Copper No Touch Tool V2
Description
A No Touch Tool worth carrying! Fidget worthy one-handed opening that's Compact and Pocket friendly! This took me way too many revisions and iterations, but I am finally happy with it! The Locking mechanism simply pinches the tip of the copper pipe and is finely adjusted using pliers. The pivot axle needs to be made tight enough to keep the tool from swinging around in the open position. For lifting or pulling manuevers there's a depression in the middle of the copper, but if you slip all the areas that are likely to get contaminated are carefully angled in such a way that they will be safely covered when the tool is closed. The primary germ touching surface is naturally self disinfecting so your less likely to spread germs to every surface that less fortunate people have to touch. Copper is an ideal material for this sort of thing as it's naturally inhospitable to most viruses and bacteria. Though we're still talking about potentially up to 4 hours to destroy the new corona virus. You need to wash anything like this thing regularly. Like before playing around with it or after dropping it outside. It's clear there's still a lot they don't know about the pandemic, the best relevant science I know of as of yet regarding copper and respiratory disease in general is mostly mentioned here: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/11/151110102147.htm and specific to Covid-19 see this one study: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2004973 This is built around a 22mm length of 3/8inch copper pipe. Unfortunately most people won't have 3/8 copper pipe and tools to work it, I've only seen this diameter of copper pipe sold in 10 foot coils. (found in some hardware store plumbing sections for about $20) PLA is strong enough for everything I've used this for, but it would likely break if you tried pulling anything like a heavy spring loaded exterior door. I suggest printing this in something stronger with very good layer adhesion.
