Hobie 16 Jib Sheet Car Replacement Pulley

Hobie 16 Jib Sheet Car Replacement Pulley

Description

I originally posted this with instructions that said to print the two halves and glue it together. I did this and it worked for about 15 minutes, I am now updating it with the correct instructions and files Basically you are going to want to take your jib car and find a drill bit that will be able to remove the head of the bolt that is holding the pulley. You want to try to completely remove the pulley and the bolt. Then, you should take the EntirePulleyV4, and this (1/2 in. x 0.257 in. x 1/2 in. Nylon Outer Diameter Spacers https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-2-in-x-0-257-in-x-1-2-in-Nylon-Outer-Diameter-Spacers-2-Piece-815008/204276571 ) nylon spacer and use a bench vise to press the spacer in. Then, I used a power sander to cut off the excess spacer, im sure theres a few different tools that you can use for this job. Then, I used this 1/4 in.-20 x 1/2 in. Stainless Steel Hex Bolt (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-4-in-20-x-1-2-in-Stainless-Steel-Hex-Bolt-5-Pack-812190/302007774 ), along with this 1/4" nut (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-4-in-20-Stainless-Steel-Hex-Nut-25-Pack-812110/302007721 ) and these 1/4" washers (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-4-in-Stainless-Steel-Flat-Washer-6-Pack-800341/204276462) to put it together kind of like this https://imgur.com/a/Lo4uWHs sorry i do not have better pictures, i didnt really take many good photos. You are going to want to do bolt, washer, pulley, washer, nut as the order of the assembly. Make sure to use threadlocker on the nut to make sure it does not come apart again. Finally, cut the excess bolt off and you should be good to go. Two final tips, make sure the hardware you buy is stainless. This is pretty important because zinc will fall apart in a marine environment. I printed one of the pulleys with a polycarbonate, and the other with ABS, both with pretty dense infills. They have held up for a dozen or so sails for over a year. Good Luck. If you are unable to figure this out on your own, I would consider offering to fix it myself for some $$$.
