Our House Has A Pull-Down Set Of Stairs That Go Up Into The Attic. A Rope Hangs Down You Have To Pull On To Lower The Stairs. This Is A Handle For The End Of The Rope. Just Pass The Rope (Normal Nylon Or Cotton Cord) Through The Hole In The Handle And Tie A Knot To Secure It. I'Ve Also Added A Strain Relief Object For The Other End Of The Rope. If You Just Tie Off The Rope On The Other Side Of The Hole, When You Pull, A Lot Of Stress Is Put On The Area Right Around The Hole. This Spreads The Stress Out A Bit, Making It Less Likely That You Will Enlarge The Hole And Have The Rope Pull Through.
