Customizable spool holder axle for Creality printers (With or without bearings)
Description
Most Creality printers come with a metal spool mount. A plastic rod is inserted into the mount, and fastened with two plastic nuts. The mount works great, except when you want to mount bigger spools of filament like 2.3kg or 3kg spools. This customizable design is an assembly for a longer rod to mount bigger spools. I mounted it on top of my printer using some M3 nuts and M3 bolts, including [this design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3050607) to mount it to the 20mm aluminium profile. You can customize the design to use bearings (standard settings fit 608 bearings) so that the spool will turn very smoothly. Customizing the design to use other bearing measurements should also be easy. Another option is to print the axle without any bearings. In this case the whole assembly consists of a single part. Most measurements are customizable to your own needs. (See SCAD file.) I printed it using PETG, since the part needs to be pretty strong to hold heavy spools. ( With 0.2mm layer height and a 0.8mm nozzle.) **Notes:** - you will need the plastic nuts delivered with the printer in order to install the printed axle. - When printing the assembly using bearings, you'll have to hammer the bearing support rod through the main axle. I did that by simply smashing the two parts against a solid surface with my hands. :) - This design is made using [OpenSCAD](https://www.openscad.org/). You will need to install it to customize the design.
