Prusa i3 Ball Bearing Spool Holder
Description
UPDATE 12/23/2020: There was a problem with the previous files. I made an adjustment for better clearance, but did not do another test print (bad mistake on my part. Sorry about that). The result was that the bearings wouldn't fit on the design. I have since fixed that issue. Sorry for any inconvenience. Description: This mount will let you use regular skateboard bearings and simply set your spool on top of the printer. I used CA glue to secure the 2 pieces together for each side. If you want, you can drill a hole through where the bearings go and use some sort of nut and bolt combo, but I didn't think it was necessary. Items needed in addition to your filament: * 4x Skateboard Bearings * CA Glue Assembly: * Put the bearings on the shafts * add some CA glue to the "bridge" piece where the 2 halves meet up. * Press and hold together until the glue dries. Installation: * Remove the stock filament holder * put the upper portion onto the top edge of the printer to get the frame into the groove. Some force may be necessary, but don't push too hard or you may break your part. * It will snap into place once it's on there. * Position the 2 braces with enough spacing between them to set your spool onto the bearings. * Load up your filament and enjoy some smooth printing.
