Body-Solid weight stack silencer
Description
This is a centring ring that I developed to silence the weight stack of a Body-Solid G6B Home Gym. During operation, you move the top of the weight stack and with the pin you can add additional alloy weights. The ‘problem’ that I experienced is that the movement of the weights is sometimes a bit loud. After some testing, I found out that the metal rod can move freely in the hole in the metal weights and will sometimes touch the edge. This makes a ‘metal-on-metal’ sound that I don’t like. To centre the metal rod in the stack, I found out that it is sufficient to centre the rod to the first plate. This will keep the metal rod from touching other plates and makes operation of the device much more silent. Some remarks for the design. The hole in the centre is a tight fit to the metal rod. This is needed to keep the ring up if you would operate the machine without additional weights. There are no overhanging parts, so you should be able to print this design without problems.
