Mitre Box for Zona 35-500 Universal Saw
Description
This is a mitre box I designed for the "Zona 35-500 Universal Saw" which is used for models and miniature making. The offers available online did not suit my needs and the other designs on Thingiverse were the wrong dimensions. The dimensions of the box can accommodate a piece of wood 56mm wide, 29.4mm tall, this is due to the size of the saw blade. The kerf of the Universal Zona Saw is 0.3mm, the gaps in the box design are 0.4mm. Depending on printer accuracy you may need to saw the gaps after printing to make the saw fit well, it's not difficult as the gaps do guide the saw along to make a precise fit. It has angles for a straight cut, 45°, 60°. It has countersunk screw holes (accepting 4mm screws) for attaching to a workbench or attaching a wooden bar for clamping into a vise. It has a depressed area for clamping to a bench, if this is preferred. I printed mine in ABS as it's a tougher material than PLA and acts "waxy" when cut instead of being sharp and rough, but it will work in PLA also. The model can be printed as the box alone, or using the infill modifier, as described below.
