Water Tank Filter Washer

Water Tank Filter Washer

Description

Giant washer to hold a filter sock for your water tank! Quite possibly the quickest and simplest thing to design, but very practical if you have a water tank and want to pre-filter the water from your roof. This washer is specifically for those who have a water tank and want an additional method of pre-filtering the water from your roof and removing debris before it enters the tank (I would also recommend you run a 'first flush diverter' which takes the first 10-20 or so litres of water from your roof and filters it before the water enters your tank - I've added an image of this to illustrate, Google it if you want to install one) This design is to hold a secondary mesh filter sock to capture any floating debris or dirt that would otherwise enter your tank, so it obviously requires a small mesh filter sock to wrap around the washer. The images should be pretty self explanatory. This washer is for standard 80mm Marley downpipe. It requires either a jointing socket (or the socket end of the pipe) to be installed just before the pipe enters the tank, as the washer sits over the pipe and is held in place by the socket (see images) If your pipe is a different diameter post a comment and I’ll add another size. I got the filter sock from a pool shop, although they should be common enough to find. Believe me, it works! I was gobsmacked - even with the first flush diverter in place - how much crap there was in the filter sock. It should help reduce the number of times you'll need to clean out the bottom of your water tank. It does require cleaning the filter sock every now and then, but a small price to pay for cleaner water. I have also placed a cupful of activated carbon into another filter sock that sits on a grate below this pre-filter, to further clarify the water. Print using PETG (PLA should generally be avoided for anything outdoors) [ Coming soon: 3D printed housing to hold a battery operated DIY water level sensor and parts to indicate water level % to your home automation system ] If you like it, click Like!
