Face Shield

Face Shield

Description

I designed this protective face shield from scratch to provide emergency protection for local medical workers and family/friends. I acknowledge that during this pandemic, there is a current global supply shortage; therefore, I hope that I can contribute to helping others by having my free face shields benefit all healthcare workers or anyone else that needs it. Currently, essential workers are finding that all of the PPE and masks they are wearing become a hassle when the protective gears start hurting their ears or leaving a mark on the surface of their skin. The elastic band used for the mask will not irritate the ear as it will be worn on the neck and above the ears. To assemble the full face shield, you will need a clear plastic sheet, elastic band, string, and multi-purpose foam (or a sponge). Hold the plastic sheet horizontal. Hole punch the clear plastic sheet with a hole puncher (the holes must correspond with the holes on the 3D-printed strip, place the 3D-printed part on the middle top of the sheet). Attach the 3D-printed strip with the holes aligned to the plastic clear sheet, using a string. Glue a strip of multi-purpose foam onto the top portion of the mask for comfort. Hole punch 2 holes on both sides of the plastic sheet ( The first hole is 1 inch from the top and the second is 8 inches from the top. Tie elastic strings on the upper hole and lower hole (Tie both strings to the other side). Place the 3D printed bottom piece on the bottom of the sheet by sliding the sheet into the hole. Although these face shields are effective and convenient, it is not guaranteed that there will be full protection. With that being said, please understand that these face shields are intended to provide minimal protection, so use at your own risk. I hope everyone can utilize these shields and stay safe. (It is recommended to wear the face shield with a mask)
