Customizable Window Exhaust Vent for Dryer Duct
Description
This is a customizable window vent meant to attach to a 3" or 4" dryer duct. I'm using it to vent 3D-printer exhaust fumes. Length can be extended to your full window width using a sliding mechanism, or using pegs, or a combination of both. Duct size, vent size, frame size, optional screen grid, and x/y duct positions are all customizable. Some variations are attached, or customize your own using the attached SCAD file. (Use the Split option in your Slicer software to break up the STL file into separate objects to fit on your printer) This design does not include a fan mount, as the exhaust fan is expected to be placed elsewhere in the duct. See my fan-to-duct shroud design here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4403027 Hint: Watch the output when the SCAD file is compiled to see if the calculated opening area is sufficient (vs constricting airflow) for the chosen duct size. Inspired by DotScott1's Sliding Window Dryer or AC Vent Seal Kit with 4" Air Duct Mount, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3801954, but designed from scratch using OpenSCAD. *NOTE*: "Dryer Duct" is referring to a type of flexible duct hose that can be attached. I wouldn't recommend using PLA for high-temperature applications (maybe find some higher-temperature non-flammable filament). 6/4/20: Updated to fix a fitment issue with sliding version. 8/24/21: Added an example 6" version per request (you'll probably need to split up the STL file in your Slicer program to fit on the print bed)
