Wharfedale Diamond 225 bass port mod and spacer
Description
I started working on modding the Wharfedale Diamond 225 speakers after watching the youtube channel of Tharbamar. He talks about replacing the stock spacers with a spacer of about 10mm height for the bottom plate of the speaker to improve the bass and lower mid-frequency performance. Here is the video link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT3kMn2S5R4&ab_channel=Tharbamar I 3-D printed 10mm spacers and tried out the mod and definitely could hear the improvement in the bass frequencies. The midrange compression was gone and as a result, the sound opened up a bit. The high frequencies also came a bit forward as the overall lower mids were pushed a little bit backward. This was a welcome change in the overall sound signature of these otherwise amazing sounding speakers. To take the mod to the next level, I created a "power port" (taken the design from the Polk subwoofers) which essentially helps in reducing any port noise. I stuck the power ports with double-sided tape to the bottom plate. This definitely helped in reducing the port noise at a higher volume.
