Valve Index Cable Clamp Replacements BACK + FRONT

Valve Index Cable Clamp Replacements BACK + FRONT

Description

The first thing that was broken on my beloved and well used Valve Index VR headset was the rear cable clamp. Second was the upper pin that holds the cable, third was finally the cable itselve (pixlel snow, somtimes a cracking sound, connection errors and occasional session termination).. I've had fastened the cable with cable ties like many others, but this eventually had speed up the cable breakage over months, which is a known weak spot of the Index. I didn't wanted to use ugly tape. After I've got a new cable from the really helpful and generous Valve customer support, I made this cable clamp replacements on the very next day. I've made the front clamp from scratch and it fits very thight and holds not the cable itselve, but those plastic bulge for the original (but broken) cable clamp pin. The rear clamp is a remix. I've made it overal a bit stronger and flattened the outer curve a bit for a lower profile. Both seems to hold the cable very well without bending or cut into the cable, but is a lot stronger than the original. Only time will tell, if it will stand a more severe stumble-over-the-cable accident. Both are a very easy and fast prints. I've printed it in PLA, 0,28 "low quality" with 4 walls and all settings in cura to make it a bit stronger. Infill doesn't matter, I've taken the standard 20%. No supports of course. EDIT: I've added a smoother version of the back clamp, because the old one is a bit deep and edged and scratches the headrest of my leather seat. Though, V2 should be a bit more sturdy than V3. EDIT2: Be sure to put them in the right spot with the cable inside, because they fit very thight and can't be moved around without a hassle! Once you have clipped them on the HMD, they will stay where they are, until you use quite a lot force to remove them. That is what they are made for.
