Vinyl cutter offset finder
Description
This is a test file to find the tool offset for a drag knife on a vinyl cutter without having to cut lots of test boxes with different settings. The .svg file cuts directly from Inkscape on my Seiki cutter. If you send the file with *no* tool offset then one half of the pattern will replicate a tooth like pattern with different tool offset settings from 0.25 (at the pointy end on the left) to 0.5 at the blunt end on the right (the mirrored image, could be top of bottom, will be nonsense but is included because your cut may take the opposite direction from mine). The jpg shows the partially weeded cut. The correct setting is the one where the external apex of the triangle just cuts the outer border (rather than falling short of it). Note that the trapezium produced has flat sides. The second triangle from the right is set for a 0.45mm offset. To me, the best setting looks like it falls between that triangle and the one to its left. I therefore use 0.42mm as my offset (halfish way between 0.45 and 0.4mm). The offset will, of course, change with the blade and the depth of cut/pressure.
