Graupner Jumbo 2000F - motor mount BL-motor for Hi-Fly
Description
This is the motor for the Graupner Hi-Fly electric RC-soarer of the 70'ies. This is a wooden soarer with 2,30 m span, which flew extremely well and I wanted to build the model again, after about 40 years. I have redrawn the original building plan in CAD and wanted to have the electric motor in the same wing-mount as the original as this contributes significantly to the looks of the plane. I designed the motor-mount with 3D in FreeCAD. To prevent the props from overstretching in both directions (which usually is a problem with pusher-props), I designed two plates as a limiter, one at the bottom to prevent the prop from touching the wing during unfolding and one at the front to prevent the prop from folding too close, which would prevent it from unfolding when starting the motor. The new motor mount takes motors 2822 of 1100 KV of around 45 gr as they are sold widely on the Internet. These brushless motors provide ample power for this aeroplane. I included the original FreeCAD files if you want to change any parameters. If you are inspired to build the complete model and want to get a copy of the CAD-files for the plane itself for miiling or laser-cutting the parts, please contact me. Have fun with this beautiful RC-model.
