Panel #02 - Page #01 - Implant! a 3D printable comicbook readable by the visually impaired / blind
Description
Welcome to the most awe-inspiring project in SciFi and comic books today. The Reckoning project aims to make a 5 album science-fiction comic-book series that is also fully readable for the blind, both offline and online. In the process, my comic book project Implant! is serving as a rapid prototype development platform for the concept. At the same time, the modeling for the full series is being made. The panel here is an example from page 01 of Implant! that gives you an indication of how a comic-book panel can be made printable. 3D versions of comic books will enable blind to go online, visit a comic-book page, and then zip around on pages, hopping between panels, zooming around inside each panel while feeling everything with their hands. This will be made possible using Haptic feedback gloves like the ones offered by HaptX. The project aims to produce not only 3D graphics but also 3D Printable models and tactile pages that will be vacuum formed (to lower production cost) over the 3D printed pages. Reckoning will be accessible to the visually impaired offline and online. Making this, probably the world's first fully accessible comic-book SciFi series conversion featuring 3D printable models. How many other SciFi comic book series do you know that can boast of being fully accessible? This panel is drawn in 2D by Ira Black and converted to 3D by Ralph Sayad and is based on a story I wrote called Implant! I would love to hear your thoughts and to see You print and present the panel to your blind / visually impaired friend/s. Hearing their opinion of it would be fantastic too. I'd be happy to give you a free digital copy of the comic-book Implant! for your trouble. Reckoning is happening in collaboration with a lot of artists, 3D modelers, and programmers. They come from countries like the Faroe Islands, Denmark, England, Argentina, Germany, China, the USA, Romania, Bangladesh, Singapore, Mexico. I imagine many more will join. Please check out more on https://einarpetersen.com/reckoning.html and let me know what you think and if you think I should release more panels on Thingiverse. Kind Regards Einar
