Bahtinov Mask 8in Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope
Description
I modeled my own version of a standard Bahtinov focusing mask. The general profile for the structure was generated automatically using the following free online utility: http://astrojargon.net/maskgen.aspx I adjusted inner and outer diameters to fit my own telescope. I have the Meade 8" LX200 ACF Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. If yours is a different make/model, you will likely need to adjust these sizes for your own scope. I also wanted a nice way to insert and remove the focusing mask, even when a dew shield or lens hood is in place. I added a center peg I can grab. This also has the added benefit of only inserting the mask until it hits the front of the secondary mirror obstruction that sits forward of the corrector plate. I set this depth so that it always maintains a small gap between the mask and the corrector, so it'll never touch the glass. The outside diameter of the mask also touches the metal ring that protects the corrector around the outer edge. Again, this is so it never touches the glass. You may need to adjust this depth based on your own scope. Included are three models, the Fusion 360 parametric file, a STEP file, and the STL that fits this particular scope.
