NEC PC-FX MiSTer FPGA Project

NEC PC-FX MiSTer FPGA Project

Description

This modular system allows you to house a MiSTer FPGA system inside of an NEC PC-FX video game console without ANY modifications to the original PC-FX aside from removing and storing the original internals (minus the disk drive). The system is comprised of the following: Main Tray -This holds the MiSTer board via the original standoffs with M3 screws (holes in the back to allow them to be tightened) -This holds the HDD (I used a WD 1TB Blue, any will fit) -This also clamps onto the Mean Well RD 35A PSU, which will output the required 5V for the MiSTer and USB hub AND the required 12V for a HDD USB adapter -This also holds a USB Hub, I used a Sabrent but removed the shell to make it smaller and to solder to pads and power Rear Expansion Door -This replaces the original rear expansion port door above the AV ports. -This clips in just as the original piece and requires no modification -This has a spot for a PSU plug (15A fused, on/off toggle) -This has a spot for an HDMI extension plug -Both are able to be screwed into place via M3 screws Front Controller Ports -This will fit over the original front controller port opening from the rear in the original shell -This fits snugly and will be held in place in the rear by the original metal chassis plate (last to be removed / bottom most) -This has screws holes for a two USB extension panel mount cord PSU Plate -This holds the Mean Well RS 35A PSU in between screw posts on the bottom of the case. -It holds the PSU in place front to back and the side panels of the PC-FX will prevent side to side movement. Front & Rear Main Tray Brackets -These attach in the areas shown in the renders with the original screws from the PC-FX and hold the main tray level and prevent movement side to side, and prevent movement to the front. Rearward movement is mitigated by cable management None of these parts required any filing or sanding when printed with a well-dialed in Ender 3. Support structures will be used, align parts to your preference. I like to print vertically, so I aligned prints in that orientation. Do what works best for your printer and your settings.
