Hole expansion calibration model

Hole expansion calibration model

Description

Cura FINALLY got a setting that lets you calibrate the hole size of models so they no longer come out undersized. I imagine other slicers might have something similar. Since this value changes from filament to filament, I made this small test print with a 10mm, 20mm and 30mm hole in it to help calibrate that. **How to do it** - Set any value of hole expansion that isn't 0(I'd say start at 0.05) - Print this model using that setting - Measure the hole with digital calipers(use the pointy jaws on the back of your caliper to measure the inside of holes) - Take your expected hole size, divide it with your actual hole size and use that to find what to multiply with to get your new value. ***Example:*** Your hole measures 9.60mm and it's supposed to measure 10. Divide 10 with 9.6 and multiply your hole expansion value with the result. 10/9.6=1,04166666~ 0.05*1,04166666=0.05208, rounded down to 0.052. - Print again and make minor tweaks to get your hole completely right - Save the value in your material profile(or how you prefer to keep filament-specific values)
