Rapidair MaxLine 3/4" Pipe Straightener Pulley
Description
Setting up a compressed air system in my shop using the 3/4" Rapidair MaxLine kit and needed a cost effective way to straighten the pipe for installation. Designed this pulley to build a tool that I could pull the pipe through to uncoil it. It has a 3/8" pivot hole and the center of pulley to the center where the pipe rides is 1.5". I added a rib on the bottom to give a larger diameter support for the pulley while attempting to minimize friction. Hardware: 7 - 3/8" x 3" Bolts 14 - 3/8" Washers 7 - Nyloc Nuts (could be optional) 1 - 2" x 10" x 3'+ piece of pine lumber Powdered Graphite I marked out a 3" grid on the 2X10 and used a 1/8" bit to drill the pilot holes and then a 5/16" bit for the final holes. I worked graphite in the pulley hub with the bolt and washer, and then screwed the bolt directly into the wood with the rib side of the pulley toward the wood and tightened the bolt just so the pulley was confined but not bound. I also put nyloc nuts, with washers, on the bottom side of the board to jam the bolts, but its probably not needed. Lastly, I mounted a 1/2" dia piece of steel pipe to the board to hold the spool of air pipe while pulling it through.
