Ford Focus bonnet drive assembly
Description
Complete bonnet drive assembly - joint balls and extension rods. You can insert a spring into the assembly to push the extension rods apart and create pressure on the ball joints. It is appropriately long (maximum compression at intended insertion distance) but you can simply clip it if it's excessively stiff. SLA printers can print out the parts positioned upright using normal clearance models. FDM printers can print horizontally as well as vertically with supports (they'll generate a buttress wall around the thinner piece), the height isn't too great to cause trouble. Use maximum amount of walls or 100% infill (former preferred). If your printer produces blobby prints and the normal clearance parts don't fit together, use extra clearance models which add 0.15mm of clearance in addition to 0.25mm default clearance for the total of 0.4mm clearance between all contacting parts. You may try combination of normal clearance balls and extra clearance shafts. The extension shafts should simply slide together but if they don't, sand the internal rod (particularly the corners) until they fit. Don't sand the fork. If you use PLA, take care when inserting the ball joint into the fork - the material is extremely brittle and may break easily. Use hair dryer to soften the fork, insert the ball, and gently push the fork pins against the ball groove until it cools down.
