Batavus Fuego E-Go 7 Front Fender Bracket
Description
This is a replacement part for the official Batavus Fuego E-Go 7 e-bike front fender mounting bracket. Well, it is not a real replacement part, as it would be stupid to clone the crappy original design. It was ment to break when the bike topples over or someone hits the fender. Tiny clips of plastic are biting into a small grove on top of the front fender to hold it in place. These tiny clips are the only thing preventing the front fender from dropping onto the front wheel. With just a little bit of force the fender gets loose again and the connection gets weaker every time. You may be able to clip the fender back on a few times, but chances are high that the clips teeth crack and you need a replacement part. It is a shame they used such crap on an expensive Batavus e-bike like this. When I saw the original design I did not even think about checking or ordering an official replacement. Even a two euro part (incl. shipping) would be to expensive and I bet it would be more than that. So I designed my own fender mount from scratch. Just unscrew the original broken shit using a M10 wrench and remove it. Now clip the new one onto the fender and slide it up until you can insert and tighten the screw. Done. If you have the two part fender version where a transparent plastic part is on top of the black one, just to have a second fender component, super glue them together for your own safety. As the stupid plastic mount grabbed through a square hole in the transparent plastic to "mount" the lower black part, it was keeping the upper part more or less loose on top. Did I mentioned the crappy design? In my opinion the transparent upper fender part is level two of the wear optimized design. When the fender catches dirt it gets in between both elements and the transparent section makes the dirt visible from above. So in the result the owner may want to clean the fender, which requires unmounting and separating the fender elements, which probably results is breaking the crappy mount even without dropping the bike. When printed from ABS this part should be durable and shock resistant due to its flexibility. If it fails in the future, which is unlikely, I can simply print a new one for a few cents. Since this could be useful for other bike models or types, I added the FreeCAD V0.19 source file which allows changing the measurements. Update: 30.Jul.2020 ---------------------------- Replaced the FreeCAD file as the original had a broken reference.
