Slim Nema 17 Planetary Drive 4.2:1
Description
I needed a slimmer and more compact planetary drive for a NEMA 17 stepper motor for one of my projects. This design is actually slimmer than the length of the shaft, so the output shaft does stick out. This comes with a splined output and an output that takes a 5mm hex head bolt for the shaft. Uses at least three socket cap 2mm x 10-20mm bolts. 3 more can be added for additional strength. Additional slots are available for nuts or thru bolts for a variety of mounting options. Note the pinion/sun gear is setup for a d shaped shaft and requires some super glue to glue it to the stepper motor's output shaft. I do recommend running a drill bit thru all of the planet gears as this makes it perform much better.
