EndGame Z-Axis Belt Conversion for the Artillery X1
Description
**EndGame Z-Axis Belt Conversion for the Artillery Sidewinder X1** This is my solution for Z banding/wobble issues that plagued leadscrews on this printer. It basically removes the leadscrews and replaces them with a belt system similar to what we see in delta printers. To be able to handle the weight of the gantry, a 3:1 Gear reduction is used using a 60tooth main pulley and a 20tooth pinion on the motor. **Sept 4, 2020 Revision** I made a few revisions as requested: 1. I've included files that allows to make use of thicker 9mm wide GT2 belts. You need to reprint all 3 parts (MotorMount, PulleyHolder and BeltHolder). Other parts would be the same. 2. Also made a revision on the MotorMount to accomodate 608ZZ bearing rather than the smaller R1350 bearings. You would also need to get hold of 8mm Dshaft rather than 5mm and Pulleys (60T and 20T) that are 8mm ID. Now you have 2 options of either using 6mm or 9mm belts and R1350ZZ or 608ZZ bearings. BILL OF MATERIALS: **PRINTED PARTS:** If your using 6mm GT2 Belts and R1350ZZ Bearings: 1pc - BeltHolder_Left.stl 1pc - BeltHolder_Right.stl 1pc - MotorMount_Left.stl 1pc - MotorMount_Right.stl 2pcs - PulleyHolder.stl If your using 9mm GT2 Belts and R1350ZZ Bearings: 1pc - BeltHolder_Left_9mmBelt.stl 1pc - BeltHolder_Right_9mmBelt.stl 1pc - MotorMount_9mmBelt_Left.stl 1pc - MotorMount_9mmBelt_Right.stl 2pcs - PulleyHolder_9mmBelt.stl If your using 6mm GT2 Belts and 608ZZ Bearings: 1pc - BeltHolder_Left.stl 1pc - BeltHolder_Right.stl 1pc - MotorMount_608ZZ_Left.stl 1pc - MotorMount_608ZZ_Right.stl 2pcs - PulleyHolder.stl If your using 9mm GT2 Belts and 608ZZ Bearings: 1pc - BeltHolder_Left_9mmBelt.stl 1pc - BeltHolder_Right_9mmBelt.stl 1pc - MotorMount_9mmBelt_608ZZ_Left.stl 1pc - MotorMount_9mmBelt_608ZZ_Right.stl 2pcs - PulleyHolder_9mmBelt.stl **HARDWARE:** 4pcs - M5 1mm Brass Spacers 4pcs - 20T GT2 Pulleys 2pcs - 20T GT2 Idler Pulleys 2pcs - 60T GT2 Pulleys 2pcs - 158mm or 160mm Closed Loop GT Pulley 2pcs - 65mm D Linear Gear Shafts 4pcs - NMB R-1350ZZ Bearings (5mm x 13mm x 4mm) or 608ZZ (8mm x 22 x 7mm) 2meters - GT2 6mm or 9mm Belts 4pcs - M5x5mm bolts 4pcs - M5x12mm bolts 4pcs - M5x20mm bolts 12pcs - M5 T-Nuts ASSEMBLY: **Pulley Holder** just put in the 20T Idler pulley and lock it with the M5x20mm bolt, mount it on top of the printer using the stock M5 bolts from the original bearing holder on top. There's 2 additional holes for the M5x5mm bolts and M5 T nuts. **Motor Holder Assembly** Only thing to note with the assembly is the reduction gear, So its 60T Pulley -> 1mm Spacer -> Bearing -> Bearing (other side) -> 1mm Spacer -> 20T Pulley along the D Shaft. NOTE: For sourcing the D shaft, an alternative you could use is salvage the shafting from an old/broken stepper motor. As long its not less than 60mm length it'll work.
