Robotech Haydonite for Echo Dot gen 3
Description
UPDATE - So I have decided to discontinue working on this project. I simply do not have the room in my apartment for such a beast. Btw, the only things I did not finish were the cloth portions and the shoulders. Everything else worked as planned. I have an Amazon Echo Dot gen 3. Instead of making a Hal 9000 housing like the rest of you Luddites, I decided to make a Haydonite from Robotech. The idea is as such: - Print both top and bottom halves and bolt together. CHECK - Paint black. CHECK - Print the lighted sections with clear PLA and insert into the top and bottom sections accordingly. CHECK - Add El Wire to the back of the clear pieces, and link to external speaker so that when it talks, the lights flash in unison. If not bright enough, add leds. We'll see. CHECK - Provide a solid structure for the cloth cowl to lay on and glue in place. A short piece of aluminum sheeting or scrap plastic should work fine. Will have to drill a few holes and add a few small screws to get it to stay in place. - Shoulders??? I dont know... coat hangers? - Put the whole thing on a 1in aluminum tube I can get from any Ace hardware and place on an old tripod. CHECK - Stand it in the corner so it can ridicule me. It is DEF a work in progress. Will add photos as the project evolves. Its HUGE. I am printing on my CR10 and the bed is pretty filled. Looks like it is going to take close to 3 days of constant printing for both halves.
