Tabletop Soccer
Description
Tabletop Soccer Game ==================== UPDATE (version 2 - January 2021) Tabletop_Soccer_Field_v2 (thicker bottom) increases the bottom thickness to allow for more rigid base and less flexing. Tabletop_Soccer_Player_v2 (shorter player) fixes the issue of players colliding with the field. ==================== ORIGINAL POSTING (version 1 - August 2020) ABOUT: Easy and quick to print tabletop soccer game - Fun as a novelty gift. This is potentially a work in progress. The set can fit inside the field. The field design makes it so players are secure on one side and open on the other. This allows for the players to be removed and packed inside the field. The goals slide into the gaps on the ends of the field. They have a rim that keeps them from falling out (however, depending on resolution, they may not seat all the way flush). (You will need something to secure the pieces from getting lost. I used an old cigar box that was nearly a perfect fit. I put the balls in a snack size ziplock - I dropped one after taking these pictures, so watch out) This was inspired by the "Mini Table Soccer" set by Chrisibub and uses the enclosure shape design from "Customizable snap-fit electronics project box enclosure" by 0707070. BACKSTORY: I initially was going to print the set by Chrisibub as a gift for a family member recovering in the hospital. I didn't have a lot of time to make something - and when I saw that the filed alone would take approx 12 hours (with draft settings and bigger nozzle), I needed to come up with something to print fast and still be a fun gift. I used the initial design of Chrisibub's set (which is like a simplified foosball table) as inspiration in TinkerCAD. I recently printed out the project enclosure from 0707070, so I figured that would make a good starter for the field. I was going to adapt a goal from Thingiverse, but I didn't think I could manage to print the complexity of the nets within the timeframe, so I made a simple goal and then made the players. Balls were just quick spheres. SOME THOUGHTS: The set could use some design updates. For example, the field can warp easily if mishandled or in extreme temperatures due to the thin base. I will probably thicken the base and maybe size it big enough to generate infill support. That might help the strength. The balls could be bigger. They are 5mm spheres. I could probably go up to 10mm maybe. If the field warps, the players "feet" will rub the field/ground. I had fun making this and would like to improve it in time for Christmas gifts in December.
