Forbidden Planet , A simple Blaster 2
Description
This is a remix of "TheOther10" a simple blaster, thing number 3181201. I made some changes for the trigger switch so a standard micro switch could be used, changed the barrel to a screw on design, split the barrel bobbin for easy no support printing. He did a great job on his design. I had a film used blaster from Forbidden planet back in the 1990's. I made a silicon rubber mold of the film used prop so was able to rein cast duplicate Blaster guns. The design of this 3d printed version was only off in a few places. The biggest difference is in the handle curved surfaces. I did not correct this as that would mean doing the 3d cad work from scratch. Here is a build video on you tube that will show the differences . https://youtu.be/jB8EcHr8Rik In either case this is the best Forbidden Planet 3d printed blaster you can find. So thank "TheOther10" for that. Information of the screen used Blaster prop that you might enjoy. The body of the blasters were vacuformed styrene plastic, a left and right side. The End cap was cast aluminum and was held on to a aluminum tube with a set screw. The aluminum tube was glued onto the plastic body. The barrel was turn from clear plexiglass that was then flame polished to be clear again. the bobbin was turned from brass. The trigger switch was snap action cheery type switch with trigger glued to the lever of the switch and the switch is glued to the plastic body. The paint job is a gun metal color and the silver highlights were air brushed on, not tape masked , there were not hard line color changes.
