star with 8 arms (Ishtar's star)
Description
Nothing too fancy here, simply a star with 8 arms. It is supposed to be an ancient mesopotamian symbol for venus and the goddess connected to that planet which was named Inanna in Sumer and later Ishtar and other names include Astarte and then the Greek Aphrodite and Roman Venus. I printed the very beautiful https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:32405 and felt she would need some sort of a shrine around her so I started searching, and while I didn't find something suitable I read of suitable attributes which include the 8-pointed star, lions, scorpions, cedar wood and the stone lapislazuli with it's dark blue. The Ishtar gate over in the Pergamon-Museum has a lot of dark blue and while I had neither scorpions nor cedar wood available I printed her a number of blue 8-pointed stars and surrounded by those she looks much more content now. She's the goddess of love and war after all and has a reputation for being moody... Here is a link to a site where they list attributes (German) https://www.die-goetter.de/die-goettin-inanna-ishtar The stars have 25mm from corner to corner and print in an instant. Two versions, with or without a center hole.
