3D 24mm Extreme Rocket

3D 24mm Extreme Rocket

Description

This is a minimum diameter completely 3D printed Mach capable performance rocket flying on 24mm rocket motors. It has nosecone and fin shape optimal low drag in transonic flight. Fin can were designed with the great OpenSCAD tools by Gary Crowell. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3133682 Elliptical osecone designed with Tony Tonchev's nosecone_factory OpenSCAD tool. Recovery anchor designed with Crowell's centering ring OpenSCAD tool. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3145280 Simulation says just capable of breaking Mach 1 and reaching about a mile high. Designed with avionics, it has an integral Altus Metrum TeleMini for recovery and tracking. While the TeleMini does not have GPS, its transmissions allow classic foxhunt tracking with a directional Yagi antenna. It has a bayonet mount minimum diameter motor retention. I wanted a tracking capability since a small rocket at that altitude is impossible to track - certainly with my eyes. Printed in translucent PETG and white Dremel Eco-ABS for strength and temperature resistance. Work in progress.
