Amstrad / Schneider CPC464 tape compartment door shield
Description
I've seen quite a few Amstrad or Schneider CPC64 computers with scratched, cracked or missing tape compartment doors. Not the doors actually, but the transparent pieces of plastic (shields) that cover a part of the doors and that allow to see whether there is a tape in the compartment or not. As these parts are long out of production, getting a replacement is almost impossible. Taking into account the modern printing technology's capabilities, I created a few 3D models that may help people to create the necessary parts themselves. I include 3 models of the shield: - the solid one, for SLA printers that can produce a proper semi-transparent part - the one with a hole and hollow "CPC 464" letters for FDM printers - the one with a hole and open "CPC 464" letters for FDM printers To prevent dust and other crap going into the tape compartment a thin piece of transparent plastic needs to be glued to the back of the shield. This is not required, but highly recommended. The models of the letters are also included. Print those in a different color if you want to have a cool-looking 2-color shield on the tape compartment door. The letters should be pushed into the corresponding open holes with some force (see the picture). Trim them a bit before installing if they don't fit well.
