Mirror stand + earbud/accessory holders

Mirror stand + earbud/accessory holders

Description

This object was designed to help students with remote-learning from home. It sits right on the top of a laptop or computer. There is a mirror backplate located just above the camera where you rest a small mirror facing yourself to ensure that your surroundings are suitable for class. (requires your own mirror) Usually, with many students using video conferencing during their classes, it can be hard to tell if their background is ok or if the lighting is ok. This feature is intended to help mitigate this problem that many others, along with myself, face on a daily basis. The accessory holders are located on either side of the mirror. It is common for students to use Airpods or some type of earbuds on calls, and these are frequently misplaced or broken. These can hold anything that is small / light and prevent it from being lost or damaged. There is an additional hole big enough for a charger cable for Airpods. Or, it can also double as a pen holder. The choice is yours! 1. What challenges did I face? I have never built or designed anything before, nor have I used any CAD software before, so this was my first time navigating the website and creating a finished product design. I didn't even know what CAD was until 2 weeks ago. 2. If I could redesign this again, what would I change? If I could redesign this, I think I would add some kind of moving part like a hinge. I was afraid that my design would look cluttered, bulky, or confusing if I tried to add a bunch of features. 3. How would 3D printing help strengthen your design? I think 3-D printing is a great way to quickly and effectively take something from your imagination and make it tangible. It is also easy to change your design if something doesn't work out the way you want it to. It is also a better alternative to building each part and assembling it all together using some other material.
