Anet A8 Reverse Bowden Filament Guide
Description
# Anet A8 Bowden-Style Filament Guide This filament guide is my last attempt at solving the tangling filament problem. I am talking about the behavior when using stiff materials like PLA. It tends to form helices just above the extruder all the way up to the spool (assuming spool mounted above the printer). As such, I designed this filament guide to solve the tangling problem, while also giving the printer a cool upgrade. ## The parts: The filament guide is composed of 3 parts, 2 of which are 3D printable: * The extruder-side assembly * PTFE Tube (2mm ID / 3mm OD) * The spool-side assembly **You will also need**: * 4x M3 nut * 2x M3x22 screw * 2x M3x28 screw The screw length was crudely measured, so take it with a grain of salt. The screw length can be a little bit longer if you are unable to find matching screws. The extruder-side assembly is designed for the stock Anet A8 direct drive extruder. It is mounted on the top-left most 2 screws (right above the filament feed hole). Likewise, the spool-side assembly is designed to be mounted on the top 2 screws holding the LCD board in place. The direction the filament tube heads is meant to work with spool holders that are above the printer. ## Printing You need to print: * 3x BowdenAssembly_Adapter * 2x BowdenCoupler_Core * 2x BowdenCoupler_Nut * 1x (everything else) ## Porting The design can be ported to other printers or spool attachment types using some effort. Both assemblies are designed to secure one of the couplers inside. By following the attached drawing of the coupler, one may design a compatible assembly themselves.
