Monitor Stand

Monitor Stand

Description

I made this monitor stand for my Dad because he was using a shoe box before. It stands the monitor up by 13cm (but have included the step file so this can be adjusted). Originally I was going to make a fully printed stand but realised that it would take ~1kg of filament to not bend too much in the centre. The only relatively nice wood that I had to hand was 34x34mm so either that or 34x170mm is needed. The length of the wood can be determined by the size of the base of the monitor + 48mm (x6 if using 34x34mm). I also sized the printed parts for sanded and chamfered wood, polished with bees wax so if you don't sand them they probably won't fit in the holes (you could use horizontal expansion to compensate for this, I sanded off ~1mm on each face so it would need to be quite severe or you could scale the model). I screwed each piece in at either end with a short screw which in retrospect is overkill, if the wood is a tight enough fit no screws are probably required and, even if they are, only screwing the centre piece in would be sufficient so the other holes could be removed. The printed parts are sprayed in matt lacquer which sort of reduces the layer line visibility and gives a nicer finish. Sanding and lacquering would look better. BOM: -34x34x(48+width of monitor base)mm Wood -2x short wood screws
