Modular Laptop Riser
Description
The design I have created is a laptop riser that also acts as a desk organizer. To combat the problem of having a smaller print bed, I could not make an entire 21-inch block with one sketch and instead had to opt for a modular system of 6 parts that come together to make a full base. I realized after creating the modular system that the parts could be reconfigured into other shapes if a student didn't want to use it as a laptop stand. It has many functions, including 16 holes for pencils, little slots designed to hold AirPods, wire wraps on the sides, and two chamfered bays that could be used to hold post-it notes, small peripheral items, even a phone or graphing calculator. The inside drawers are another way for students to organize, as the drawers are big enough to hold items such as pens, crayons, and erasers. The biggest component of the organization is the filleted holes in the back of the design, which serves as a way for students to organize wires, so as not to have a cluttered workspace. The riser also allows students to view their screen better, and they won't have to squint at the text. Some challenges I came across were figuring out how to dimension the male-female connectors so that everything would be flush and well oriented, as well as figuring out what angle I should have made the pencil holders. If I could redesign, I would have tried to add more features, like more storage, or even a camera notch area. 3d printing allows my design to versatile, and changeable, and allows my design to be more innovative, and cool.
