SE300 Hotend Fan Shroud

SE300 Hotend Fan Shroud

Description

This is a fan shroud I created for the SE300 Hotend on my SeeMeCNC Rostock Max version 3.2. It helps achieve better overhangs on small parts (specifically PLA that utilizes fans the most). I was able to print it out on my Prusa i3 MK3S as a prototype with .2mm layers with only supports from the build platform, nozzle vents facing upwards, (it had to bridge the entire tops section and did so surprisingly well sliced with S3D at 30mm/s) but since I wanted it totally smooth I ended up printing it out of resin on my little Elegoo Mars at 25 microns. I made a blend of different Siraya Tech resins to try to achieve something less brittle and more heat resistant which did work however the tapped holes did not thread correctly as the resin is not very machinable so keep that in mind. I ended up not even needing the tapped holes on any of the ones I printed because the fit was so tight it held itself in place nicely. If you perform a first layer probe with this should on it may touch the retaining clip for the glass bed depending how close to the edge you are probing and fail. I was able to get better overhangs on the CaliCat and other small models I found here on Thingiverse using this shroud.
