Motorized Telescope Focuser
Description
Telescope accesory for remote control of the focus. This device is designed to couple a DC motor to the focus knob of a low-cost Celestron Powerseeker 127 EQ. Video: https://youtu.be/agU0Mv5ax00 The accesory remains fixed to the focuser tube using of two braces. These braces are assembled using M4 and M6 Allen bolts. The coupler has a mechanical fuser (4 thin long bars) that helps to avoid physical damage of the telescope focuser in case of end point is reached (no limit switch was used). No nuts were used, all bolts were heated and screwed into the parts. The motor box is designed to use RCA connectors. The 12 V DC motor is controlled with a L298 and a Arduino nano. The Arduino code can be found here https://github.com/marianobarella/dc_motor_controller.git Usually, I attach a DSLR camera so the motor case is designed to fit a motor capable of doing a 10 kgf couple (max.). Precisely: MR04A (IGNIS, http://www.ignismotor.com/DESKTOP/AR/motoreductor.html ). The parts were designed in FreeCAD using dimensions of the telescope I own. Measurement were taken with a Vernier caliper. Material: PLA. Infill: 25% or more, honeycomb. Resolution: 0.3 Hope you enjoy it!
