Description

I bought a pair of Zesty Nimble v2 remote extruders to install on my E3D ToolChanger and wanted to keep the motors installed at the rear of the printer. The existing mount design resulted in to too much force being applied by the curvature of the drive cable when docked, which occasionally caused docking/undocking failures. This mount solves the problem by allowing the motor to freely pivot and relieve cable forces. I tried to locate the hinge point very close to the motor cable to reduce the degree of cable flex, but longevity of the cables due to repetitive motion has not been tested. *Note: The pivot height only allows for the smallest pancake steppers (20.5mm thick motor body). Anything larger will impact at ~45 degrees of rotation. I have included .step files so you can modify to fit your desired motor. Additional parts required for motor mount: - (quantity 2) F684ZZ 4x9x4mm flanged bearings - (quantity 2) M4x12mm machine screws Additionally, I wanted to utilize the nicely machined E3D pin receivers on the toolhead rather than printed pin receivers. The adapter I designed allows the use of this part and provides an integrated cable management bar similar to the E3D standard design. The printed part attaches to the pin receiver from the bottom using short M3 screws and then the nimble attaches normally to the top using the included screws. Everything else is per the standard V6 toolhead design. *Note: The toolhead mount must be held tightly to the E3D pin receiver while screws are installed from the bottom. The pin receiver is tapped and not a through-hole, so you will not be able to snug up these joints like you normally would. I don't like the solution, but it was the only way I could fit the parts together due to the overlapping fastener locations of the receiver and Zesty Nimble.
