Incra Miter Gauge Fence Calibrator

Incra Miter Gauge Fence Calibrator

Description

This is a simple little gizmo for precisely calibrating the fence on your Incra miter gauge and returning it to its calibration quickly after adjusting the fence position (e.g. for mitered cuts). The calibrator should slide right into the slot on the back of the aluminum extrusion. Insert it all the way until the heel engages with the end of the extrusion. You can then use the 1/4-20 bolt through the sliding section to lock it in place. Don't put too much pressure on it or you'll tear out the heat set insert, just use enough to keep it from moving accidentally while you calibrate the fence. The bottom 1/4-20 bolt should engage with the right side mounting bracket on the protractor portion of the miter gauge. You can use this bolt to make very small adjustments to the fence position. Just loosen the fence, turn the bolt, and then set the fence snug up against the bolt before locking it down. Once you have a fence position you're happy with, you can lock the lower bolt permanently in place with red loctite. Now save the calibrator, and any time you need to restore your fence calibration just slide it into the channel, lock it in place, and set the fence up against the end of the bolt. The calibrator_short variant is untested, but should theoretically allow you to calibrate your fence when set for 45 degree miter cuts.
