Electric Wheel Chair - Full Size
Description
This is a fully function 3D printed electric wheel chair. A long term project of mine, I was searching for cost effective mobility solutions in aged care environments to give people a second chance at being actively mobile and increase quality of life. My chair is designed to be printed on a 300 x 300 x 400 mm printer bed and I built my prototype on a Creality CR10S-Pro which i might add has been a real workhorse and churned through a lot of plastic with minimum fuss. It is printed in 18 pieces and clicks snaps, bolts and glues together on a thick plywood base.. I have used a donor Hover board for the brushless hub motors, motor mounts and Lithium battery. This proved to be the most cost effective solution for these components. I have also used two generic brushless motor controllers and an Arduino control system for the user interface which can consist of either a single or double joystick system. There are a couple of options with the seat back in this design. The chair shown with the short stubby seat back in the pictures is designed to take two 19mm poles and a canvas back stretched between the two as per a normal wheel chair. Oh, and please be careful as this is not a toy, the motors from a Hover board are serious pieces of kit and to make this unit safe, that is it doesn't exceed say 4 Kilometers per hour, then they need to be seriously wound back or governed in the code. If there are any Arduino programmers who might be interested in this project that could lend me a hand it would be much appreciated as my software skills suck! I want to take the code to the next level with the inclusion of proximity sensors and line following etc. Thankyou in advance
