Z Probe Magnetic Connector for Workbee
Description
Magnetic z probe connector for Workbee CNC Uses standard spacing for nema23 mounting holes that are unused on the x-carriage plate when using the leadscrew drive system. Uses 4 10x3mm neodymium magnets for connection and 18ga wire with appx 2mm diameter insulation. Mounts with M5 screws. I left the mounting holes tight enough to thread in the M5s but also recessed them in case I ever decide to flip the screws and put a nut on the rear of the plate instead. I roughed up the back of the magnets with sandpaper and soldered the wires directly to them, then pressed the magnets into the recesses with the soldering iron tip to make them a tight fit, making sure to leave them slightly above the surface of the printed parts. I left the wire holes extending fully through the parts so that liquid CA glue could be dropped in for a more secure hold on the magnets. The pictures are of version 1 of the design, I removed the alignment pins and holes on the subsequent revision as they found not to be necessary after testing.
