LEGO Steam Locomotive Connecting Rods

I am an avid LEGO Train enthusiast and a member of the Calgary LEGO Train Club (cltc.ca). We typically utilize trains that are six studs wide, eight and change with items such as the connecting rods on a Steam Locomotive. Unfortunately, the Emerald Night had interconnecting connecting rods, which made the train greater than ten studs wide, which does not fit through out stations and tunnels which typically allow for ten studs of width. With this design, the Emerald Night (mine is in Dark Blue) is just over eight studs wide... and runs very smoothly.
