Celestron 8" Nema 17 focus motor
Description
Parts to assemble a Nema 17 focus motor on a Celestron 8 inch SCT telescope. Connector probably also works on larger telescopes, only the bracket needs to be updated then. --- Please contact me if you need a bracket for C9.25, C11, C14 and such, I'm happy to quickly modify it and upload the adaptation.--- The focus knob is optional if you only focus automated, but I recommend to use it for manual adjustment. Just glue it on the coupling. I printed the parts in Carbon Filled PETG, which is pretty strong and rigid. Print it all solid, except for the knob, which can be very light weight. Print the bracket 'upside down', there are pockets/ relieves for the screws! --Post print-- Tap the holes for the screws with M4 and make sure the coupling bores are burr-free. I used a stepper motor like this one: https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/nema-17-stepper-motor/nema-17-bipolar-1-8deg-16ncm-22-6oz-in-1a-3-5v-42x42x20mm-4-wires.html?mfp=183-body-length-mm%5B20%2C21%5D and cut the shaft to about 8 mm long (it might hit the inside of the focus shaft otherwise). --Electronics & software-- Will be updated later on, but there are many examples already available, for example MyFocuserPro2. Cheers!
