Mask Dryer V2

Mask Dryer V2

Description

USB Mask Dryer V2 update. Design now considered finished. Replaces V1: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4644900 Designed to address the primary issue preventing clear sealed mask use. Humidity build up making breathing uncomfortable and fogging up view windows to the mouth for lipreading. It is not a breathing exhaust. It is designed to slowly extract humidity from a sealed mask volume over time. Sterilising and knocking the momentum out of expelled viral vapor. It will act to slowly draw air into the mask through minimal negative pressure and exhaust C02 build up, making any sealed mask volume more comfortable to use long term, eg n95 mask. Designed to be retrofitted to any mask. Tested extensively on the Eye Cu Smile V2 clear mask design for weeks in humid factory conditions. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4598055 Based on industrial Mesh-Vane demister theory scaled down for use on a mask, paired with the disruptive technology of anti-microbial filaments. The 'vane' units are based upon earlier work designing anti microbial filter meshes for the Eye Cu Smile V2, see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4611510 Extensive instructions PDF supplied containing: Justification Printing instructions Assembly instructions Theory and scientific references V2 Changelog: Weeks of field testing in a factory environment complete. Added anti microbial fan exhaust vane. Changed naming of parts to align with mesh-vane demister theory. Geometric tweaks to bottom edge chamfers for ease of printing. Geometric tweaks to nitrile check valve location feature, higher clearance, more clamp area. Enlarged screw holes for better clearance. Added cutting templates for check valve and filter. Improved assembly instructions. Full body PLActive variant proposed. Changed evaporative filter media to Lifeventure HydroFibre anti microbial trek towel instead of standard stretchable sports towels. Added crush seals between fan and body/exhaust vane. Written up scientific justification of theory of operation. Removed alternative filter clamp spacer in favour of ‘vane’ spacer as standard. Disclaimer: I have no way of testing the viral load of any remaining vapour exhausted to air. Hence it should not be used where accredited PPE is already available in a professional setting eg healthcare. The design is unproven, therefore no guarantee can be provided as to its efficacy to filter viral particles. This is an unproven concept device intended to aid development of clear mask technology and should be viewed as such.
