We've Been Duped! A-Frame Kit

We've Been Duped! A-Frame Kit

Description

We've been Duped! ^ Kid Me, opening a present that shook & sounded like LEGO/DUPLO, but was actually a knock-off construction set, with blocks that never felt the same or snapped together as well as the real thing. But what if the magic of 3D printing + hundreds of design iterations mean we can invent our own, new, blocks that do work as seamlessly as the originals? This building kit delivers that - & it lets you 3D print the pieces for your own abstract A-frame house! Rich details & textures combine with whimsical points of interaction to allow the creation of your own imaginative structures. Meticulously designed & refined to 3D print with a secure & satisfying fit, these four pieces - a shingle, a window, a balcony, & a roof - let you build A-frame houses or sloped walls with a 2:1 roof pitch. Shown in the photos is an A-frame built with a 6x5 grid per side. The print recipe for that construction is as below: 2x - Balcony 3x - Shingle Roof 4x - Window 32x - Shingle An A-frame with a 4x4 size also works well as a smaller kit: 1x - Balcony 2x - Shingle Roof 2x - Window 16x - Shingle Printed correctly, these parts work smoothly with each other & with DUPLOs, snapping together & apart with a firm-but-predictable amount of force. They also wear well. My print settings are listed on this page, but you should definitely do a few trial prints to nail down the extrusion rate & temperatures that yield the perfect fit with your setup. Post comments for what works best for you. Interested in 3D modeling your own add-ons to this A-frame? Or tweaking the basic block design to better work with your 3D printer?
