Filament Sensor Hacked and Guide Funnel for Tronxy XY.
Description
This design uses a bent piece of wire (a jumbo paper clip easy to bend) 1.4mm in diameter, but the small holes can be resized with a drill for thicker wire. the contact switch that this has been made for should have the PVC holding board with the 40mm holes spaced apart. The advantage to this model is that it won't wear down, like the standard inject-mold-plastic housing pieces for the manufactures run-out sensor, which also gives false readings after to much use. A standard sensor can only detect if the filament runs out 50mm before it enters the extruder, but if the filament breaks right between the sensor and the extruder, your printer will pull just that little bit through and leave the rest in the run-out sensor. After place the wire through the hole, bend it to swivel and press the contact switch. Bend the other side of the wire anyway you want it to touch the filament. leave excess wire above the switch to have a lever for raising the contact arm above the filament that will insert into the extruder. You can use the same size screws that mounted the old filament sensor since this new attachment fastens with the old sensor mounting holes. Funnel is not to optional, and you can design what ever guide you want. Mine was made out of a different filament that squeaked from filament passing through it.
