Cipher/Decoder Wheel

Cipher/Decoder Wheel

Description

I designed a simple shift cipher wheel because most of the ones out there were either enormous or didn't click into place, which was a must for me. I did this as a remix so I could use the clicking mechanism which works great. I made this just as a fun way to talk in code with various people, and teach my kids a bit about encryption/ciphers. Printing: I printed on a CR6-SE at .2 layer height and supports for the springs on the socket piece, which I was then able to remove pretty easily with a small knife. If the letters or numbers are not readable, you may need to either scale up or decrease layer height. I was able to print at 80% scale for one slightly bigger than a quarter in diameter, which is great for keeping in your pocket undetected on your next spy mission! Post-Processing: I sanded the ball to allow easier turning, and sanded the edge of the ball side piece to eliminate some minor squeaking. Might also have a short break-in period. I've also seen these used in schools to teach either history or the basics of encryption.
