Webcam Clip Compliant, Monitor Safe, Parametric (OpenSCAD)
Description
I needed a monitor-safe clip for my webcam. As I like simplicity and the idea about compliant mechanisms, designed this new webcam holder clip that fits all my requirements. It has two parts, one is the compliant double clip that mounts the monitor and holds the rod in place, allowing all necessary adjustments. The other is the rod, with a sphere at the bottom for rotation. I used **OpenSCAD** and made the design adjustable for different cam hole and monitor sizes. The most important parameters are made adjustable: MonitorFrame=10; // Frame height MonitorWidth=20; // Top width of your monitor TensionShrink=.9; // Coefficient used for pre-shrinking the clips. RodD=7; // Diameter of cam holder rod (round part). RodH=14; // Height of the rod. May fit as is. RodChunk=5.8; // Width of the end of the rod (where "chopped"). RodChunkH=5; // Height of the end part of the rod. You might need to adjust them according to your monitor and cam constraints before printing. Background: My webcam had a traditional, spring-based clip, too strong and not safe for the monitor: It has no stopper that would prevent it from slipping off the frame and bumping into my screen. Also it had some limitations in turning/adjusting the cam. In fact, I never dared to mount it on my monitor, and the other locations were not really convenient for it.
