Stela Modular Key Holder
Description
#Stela Modular Key Holder While browsing Thingi, I came across the Proteus Key Holder designed by ProteanMan. Overall, it's a great design, but I felt it wasn't finished imo. There were a few changes I needed to make in order to fulfil my needs, this led to a complete redesign. A design that should easily accommodate the most popular keys on the market. So without further ado, here is my take on the Swiss Army style key holder! ###__Materials__ __Knurls__ You will need 2 knurls for your build. Make sure they are the right dimensions of M3, 5mm outer diameter, 4mm height. Knurls can be easily put in with a large set of plyers/clamp/hammer or melted into the holes with a soldering iron. They need to be pushed into place so that the edges cut and grip the hole. I use these for almost everything since they are permanent and more reliable than standard nuts. You can purchase an inexpensive assorted knurl set on amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07L96KVP3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 __Screws__ You will need 2 cup head hexagon socket screws. The size of these depends on how many keys (stacks) that make up your build. I make it a habit to always have an M3 screw set on hand as they are so popular amongst makers and creators. You can purchase an inexpensive M3 screw set on amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07CBZRXQ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 > * 1 or 2 keys = 1 stack >M3 x __10mm__ screw > - 3 or 4 keys = 2 stack >M3 x __12mm__ screw > + 5 or 6 keys = 3 stack >M3 x __14mm__ screw ###__Assembly__ > Print 1 x Top > print 1 x Bottom > print 1 x ModPlate_Mini > print 1 x ModPlate_Small > print 1 x ModPlate_Regular > print 1 x ModPlate_Large Place a screw through the screw hole of the mod plate in order to check which, (if any) of your keys fit. Note the mod plates your build will require for each key and set aside. You may need multiple of the same mod plate, go ahead and print these now. I printed the mod-plates at 0.2 layer height; you can turn on ironing if you find your keys don't swivel smoothly. From here assembly is straight forward. Insert your screws into the top plate, continue stacking your mod plates and keys, followed by the bottom plate. You can keep stacking as many keys as you want, just make sure to add +2mm to the length of your screw for each stack. For example, a 6 stack build would require __28mm__ long screws. --- #Stela Universal Wall Mount The wall mount has 2 neodymium magnets that attract the screws in the key holder thereby holding it securely in place. >__Version 3__ _included 2 hooks for hanging items_ ###__Materials__ __Magnets__ You will need 2 magnets 6.3mm x 3mm https://www.michaels.com/promag-neodymium-magnets/10413548.html __Super Glue__ You will need some crazy glue to secure the magnets in place. https://www.amazon.ca/Gorilla-7805201-20g-Super-Glue/dp/B07W47FCSR/ref=pd_bxgy_2/144-4637023-4399617?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07W47FCSR&pd_rd_r=f87bd91d-5bc9-4e3d-a21c-71d976817db5&pd_rd_w=67k1P&pd_rd_wg=bdmZ4&pf_rd_p=42339929-297e-4141-b7b2-fe55db70f4b7&pf_rd_r=5X1KEVQ71BY6BB2EX2A0&psc=1&refRID=5X1KEVQ71BY6BB2EX2A0 __Double Sided Tape__ You will need double sided tape to hold the fastener in place. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07F63NQZ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 __Screw+Anchor__ Screw & anchor set allows for a more secure mounting option. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07HQ4YMYY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ### __Assembly__ > print 1 x WallMount > & remove supports Place a tiny drop of crazy glue in the magnet holes, followed by inserting your magnets. You may need to use a pair of pliers to force the magnets into place. Apply double sided tape to the back of the Wall Mount. Screw your anchor into the wall Insert the screw through the wall mount and into the anchor. --- If you need me to design custom mod plates, just leave a comment with the length and width of your key(s). __Enjoy ;)__
