Water Supply Quarter Turn Valve Knob
Description
This is a replacement knob for the water shut-off valve that feeds my whole-house humidifier. The original (plated/painted plastic) one broke, and I couldn't find a replacement at my local hardware store. I'm not sure what brand of valve is in use (no markings aside from "WPCL" and "LF"=lead-free), but it's a quarter-turn valve that would typically feed cold water to a humidifier or fridge/freezer. The stem has 2 flat faces (so not a "D" stem, but I don't know what this shape is), with the circular diameter of 8.0mm and the distance between the flat parts about 6.0mm. I just got my first 3D printer (Creality Ender 3) a couple days ago, and still learning, but it turned out quite well. I'd recommend printing with handle/"wing" parts on the bed, and round parts facing up (as defined in the STL file), with optional supports just where the "half moon" parts straddle the handle. My test print without supports worked out just fine, but adding the flanking supports helps ensure things look good. I found 75% infill worked for me, with sufficient "meat" inside to handle the torsion applied, and not feel like it will break. Update: Someone requested a no-text version, so while I was at it, I re-worked the original design to soften things up and smoothen some edges. Although the original also never needed supports, I've also made the overhangs sloped to facilitate a nicer print.
