Ai3M Y-Axis Linear Guiderails

Ai3M Y-Axis Linear Guiderails

Description

This is part of a larger project for me, but it might be interesting as localized modification. The modification solves the Z deflection of the Y rods (max. 0,15mm) and adds a really necessary Y-belt tensioning feature. I used MGN12 rails and carriages, they are decently priced and have low inertia - a must using (only) 6mm belts. The Ai3M 220x220 hotbed remains unchanged, same M4 screws are required to be used for installation. Additional standard connecting items are shown in the drawing. I have included and a very useful tooling for the installation of the rails. I strongly advise to completely remove everything (the motherboard, the power supply, display + etc) from the main Ai3M housing before to drill / install the rails. Edit - one simple Y-belt coupling fitting that works with the adapter fitting added - in case a different Y-belt tensioning feature is already in place. Worth to mention: _The hotbed leveling has become much easier using the rails, even now my hotbed is 310x310(mm). The Z hotend - hotbed clearance adjusted in the four corners and the hotbed is totally "flat", I do not even need to use the mesh corrections. Great improvement compared with the two horizontal 8mm rods variable buckling under the hotbed weight and turning the buckling plus the individual geometrical deviations in hotbed waviness. _Post intensive testing, I have increased the Vref for the Y-stepper with 7% as the inertia load is slightly higher and the Y-belt tension is finally OK (very tight).
