Menger Sponge iterations 2 to 5
Description
Menger Sponge fractal at different level of iteration made in SideFX Houdini software. This construction is based smalless cubes can be printed by a 0.4mm nozzle. 1st iteration is 3x3x3 cubes of 0.5mm each with all center cubes removed. From this , all other iteration is generated. Cube is 45 degree rotated and one corner truncated for to be printed without support and self standing on a table in this angle. I printed with a 0.4mm nozzle and a Zstep of 0.2mm on my Ender 3 V2. mengersponge_2iter.stl : 3x3x3 cubes of the 1st iteration giving a cube of 4.5mm each side. Really tiny cube ! Take few minutes to print for testing. mengersponge_3iter.stl : 3x3x3 cubes of the 2st iteration giving a cube of 13.5mm each side. Start to be interesting , around 1hour to print ( Cura , 50mm/sec base speed ). mengersponge_4iter.stl : 3x3x3 cubes of the 3st iteration giving a cube of 40.5mm each side. Really nice one ! A bit more than half of a day to print ( Cura , 50mm/sec base speed ). mengersponge_5iter.zip : 3x3x3 cubes of the 4st iteration giving a cube of 121.5mm each side.He is a monster !!! Stl of 605Mo , why it's compressed in zip format to fit in the Thingiverse upload limite. With a angle of 20 degree in Z , it's just fit on the Ender 3 V2 plate limit. Take hours to slice on my old computer. Probably days to print. Not printed it yet ! It's a challenge ! stand_#iter.zip : For each cube you can print a stand for it. Because of it's "spongy" contact with the plate , it's better to have a raft to make a good contact with the plate. But if you are confident , you can try without it. Probably make a nice effect with del light inside it !
